Nepal is a country full of Mount Everest, Gautam Buddha, Pashupatinath and tourist attractions. The common flower garden, rich in water resources, agricultural and geographical diversity, is also a hallmark of Nepal. However, the country’s discussion has stopped being about these topics these days. Nowadays, Sher Bahadur Deuba, KP Sharma Oli, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Jhalanath Khanal, Baburam Bhattarai have started being discussed. They are the top leaders of the major parties in Nepali politics. Since the names mentioned are leading the party, their names are repeated again and again.
These are the characters who earn money, heart, honor, and disgrace. Many of the characters who were together in 2063 do not discuss the country now, they are involved in blaming each other. From 1863 to 2078 BS, there have been 39 prime ministers. Of which, the Rana rule continued until 2008 BS. During the Rana rule alone, there were 16 prime ministers in the country. With the establishment of democracy, 22 more became prime ministers. In the meantime, the same character has become prime minister 4 to 5 times.
Nepali Congress
The Nepali Congress has been guided by BP’s ideas and principles to this day. When examining the party’s ideas and principles, it seems that if the Congress takes the lead in the country, there will be a radical change. The legacy of today’s Congress is linked to BP Koirala’s ideas, the sacrifices of many martyrs, the dedication of thousands of warriors, and the unceasing journey of millions of members. Along with BP, Suvarna Shamsher, Ganeshman Singh, Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, Girija Prasad Koirala, and Sushil Koirala led this party at different times. The politics of the Congress are based on the political and economic achievements achieved by the country under their leadership.
An ordinary person becomes a minister through politics. A child grows up to become a doctor or engineer. A squatter can become the richest person in the country. Why can’t the country be built?
For hundreds of central working committees, 13 sister organizations, 16 well-wishing organizations, 35 Nepali public relations committees, thousands of leaders and more than eight hundred thousand active members, the Congress is everything. But, is the Congress moving in the right direction and path, which means unwavering faith in the principles and ideals of nationalism, democracy and socialism, firm stance and continuous campaign? Today’s Congress needs to do a review. In 2072 BS, the Constitution of Nepal was formed under the leadership of the then Prime Minister Sushil Koirala. The Constitution has everything and everything is included. But the people are not able to feel that anything is safe. Are those issues that were not included in the Constitution being revealed? It seems that these issues that were included in the Constitution were revealed by the Congress, UML and Maoists?
CPN-UML,
which carries the slogan ‘Prosperous Nepal: Happy Nepali’, is a party established under the initiative of the founding leader of the CPN, Pushpalal. UML is a party established with the goal of liberating the Nepali people and the nation of Nepal from the exploitation and oppression of feudalism, broker-bureaucratic capitalism and imperialism. The main mantra of CPN-UML is to establish a just, equal and prosperous Nepal through the establishment of people’s multi-party democracy and socialism. Manmohan Adhikari, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Jhalanath Khanal, KP Sharma Oli led the country and the party from the UML. Currently, CPN-UML is based on the support and trust of the same old respected leaders.
Thousands of representatives and millions of workers associated with hundreds of leaders who have faith in Surya are patient and fearless in their stance. In this too, the separation of those who are in the leadership of the party makes it seem as if the UML’s principle agenda is somehow missing. UML has split in the recent period. Some leaders including KP Oli are at their own pace. Do those who have faith in Surya need to have faith in Oli? The review of UML needs to be among millions of workers.
UML got leaders like Pushpalal, Janneta Madan Bhandari, Manmohan Adhikari, which is a matter of pride. UML formed UML with two-thirds vote, slogan of Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali, Oli’s speech. It formed everything except exceptions. Either the constitution, which has everything in a two-thirds government, is not included, or the UML is not included in the constitution. What did the country get from UML, which has such good policies and principles? When will the day come when we can say with pride? A review is necessary.
The Maoist Center
, the party that brought democracy to the country, became the first party in the first Constituent Assembly elections. After the second Constituent Assembly, it became the third largest party. The Maoist Center is led by Prachanda with the aim of eliminating the dictatorial system and working for the benefit of the proletariat. In social and political philosophy, Marxism is the means of production, and this party has moved forward to establish a classless society through social ownership. It tried to confirm the scientific basis of socialism by sticking to economic, political and social principles. The Maoists have resolved to work based on the principles of Marxism, Leninism and Maoism presented in this way.
The Maoists waged a 10-year people’s war in the country. A republic was established. Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Baburam Bhattarai rose to the leadership of the country. The Maoist party blew the trumpet of revolution. Neither the interests of the proletariat have been worked on nor has a classless society been established. As poet Bhupi Sherchan said, ‘A country cannot be built unless two or four sons die’. But thousands of sons of the country died in the people’s war, but why was the country not built?
Prachanda raised many hopes. Thousands of people gathered in the hope that the country would change its face. The country suffered great losses. Prachanda changed its face, but the country could not. The country that was unified between these characters fell apart. Farmers’ vegetables began to rot in the fields. Every year, millions of young people began to leave for foreign employment. Rivers, mountains, and fields in the Terai were sold. Citizenship was sold. Religion, culture were sold. The country is being defamed as the process of selling everything goes on internally.
Nepali Nationalism and History Lessons
How long will we continue to shout slogans against each other on the pretext of studying in college, with a cup of tea and a cigarette butt in our hands, with the party flag in our backpack? The past unified Nepal was divided into twenty-two or twenty-four states and was limited to hostile behavior and war with each other. On the one hand, the country’s national integrity was in crisis, and on the other hand, economic development was hampered. In this challenging time, Prithvi Narayan Shah established a unified modern Nepal through a campaign of national unification. Prithvi Narayan Shah adopted successful diplomacy, strategy, and war strategy to unify Nepal.
Prosperity in the swamp and the state of the country
The problem shown by the swamp of parties everywhere is the garbage of the city. There is garbage on the streets for months and the leaders give slogans of smart cities. The court is a place where justice is not given. It is the leaders who come to the streets to demand justice for the poor. Is this our prosperity? Hunger is the same, disease is the same, unemployment is the same. It has been more than four decades since democracy came. How big a deal is it for the country to be betrayed in a country where the voters have lost and the leaders have accepted it? When will the leaders do their part and when will they give it to the citizens? Nepal is suffering from all aspects of unproductiveness, hope in remittances, unemployment, ethnic, religious, social, economic, political and cultural. Every year, half a million young people migrate abroad. There is neither an environment to study in the country nor to do anything. This is the understanding of most people. Protesting, fighting, arguing, holding speeches and holding meetings and conferences have become a daily routine in the country. Elections for the central government have been taking place in Nepal for the past 60 years.
The country is busy misleading the leaders but the people are voting for them. If only we had looked back a few decades ago, the country would have been built. Who is there to look back? Optimists say that there were 104 years of Rana rule, 10 years went into the people’s war. A few years were consumed by the people’s movement. A few years ended in elections. Nearly half a dozen constitutions were made in the country, but the country never became prosperous. However, the lamp of hope of the citizens has not gone out. What happened after all these years? It will happen now. The produce of our soil, the water of our forests. Even if we start from today, prosperity is not far away.
An ordinary person becomes a minister through politics. A prime minister and a president. A child grows up to become a doctor or engineer. A squatter can become the richest person in the country. Why can’t a country be built?
